Another One Bites the Dust

This past weekend I set out on one of my biggest challenges... running a half marathon. Admittedly I did not train as hard or as much as I should have. I was very scared I would not make it and would have to start walking after mile 6. Of course the day of the race rolls around and it is raining. It rained nearly the whole race. Start time was 6:30 am. The first 6 miles were flat, then came 7 through nine which were mostly up hill. I made it to the top of one of the largest hills right at Eaton Park in between mile 7 and 8 and then I puked. I felt much better after that and kept on going. The course leveled our around mile 9. I did not half to walk until mile 10. Miles 11 through 13 were mostly downhill. After mile 11 I knew I'd make it. When I saw the finish line I had a burst of energy, a runners high, an adrenaline rush, and kicked it up and sprinted to the end. I ended up finishing with 2hrs and 33 minutes. Just three minutes short of my goal.

Finishing felt great, amazing actually. I am so proud of myself. I've probably been talking about it too much lately. The best part of the race was seeing Katy Laage cheering for us. It was a fun and painful time running with my older sister Michelle and Dad. Now I am very sore, but every ache is worth it.
